At Aquarium Maintenance Pros, we are concerned about the impact of global climate change, overfishing, and habitat destruction on the world's coral reefs, which is why we encourage practices that minimize ecological impact.
Aquarium owners can minimize their impact on coral reefs by selecting species that have been responsibly harvested from non-threatened populations and locations. The impact can be further minimized by selecting fish species that have been captive bred or corals that have been grown in designated ocean "farms" (maricultured) or aquariums (aquacultured). Aquacultured corals have the additional benefit of being pre-acclimated to aquarium life so they are less likely to lose color, sicken, or die.
We have a number of coral species available to our customers on a regular basis at wholesale prices including several species and color varieties of discosoma and ricordea (mushroom corals), zoanthid, palythoa, protopalythoa, and xenia. Other species such as chalice, frogspawn, galaxia and favia are available on occasion.
